The South 18^th Street Steps are part of a series of projects that aim to highlight and celebrate gateways to the South Side Slopes neighborhood. Located on the slope’s busiest street, and at its boundary with the south side flats, the 18^th St. Steps are a high-visibility icon, as well as a heavily trafficked pedestrian route. The lighting design for the steps serves as an eye-catching element that will draw attention to the neighborhood above, and create an exciting experience for pedestrians as they move from the ‘Flats’ up to the ‘Slopes’ of the South Side.
